Good evening, everyone!
For those of you that missed Sunday's lesson, and the chili lunch, you missed an opportunity to see the lesson in action. Vaughn did a great job of sharing why we need Spiritual community and challenged us to be committed to the pursuit of community. And it's hard to think of a more perfect way to demonstrate this than the chili lunch. IT was an icky, gray day, but the dining room was warm and filled with the sounds of children laughing and playing, and even some adult conversation was managed. :)
The lesson made me realize that it's not enough for me to attend church and Sunday School or even teach the class. Until I start talking with you all, sharing my life, and truly listening to you share yours, I'm not going to have spiritual community.
I grew up in a wonderful spiritual community, which was our home church. My parents still go there, and it truly feels like home when I go back. I had been seeking that same type of community and praying for it for several years, in fact. I realized Sunday that I have found it again: a place where I can grow, and my family is welcomed. I know that if I ever need anything, there are people in the class I can turn to. And with that privilege comes the responsibility to respond to the needs of others. But that responsibility feels like an honor and a privilege because of the relationships we have.
This class is open to anyone, and I know that anyone will be welcomed and supported, no matter how long or how little they have been coming. It is open to YOU. I encourage you to step up, become involved in the care group and larger class activities and start enjoying the rewards of our FAMILY TIES.

Erin, I am so thankful that you are a part, a valuable part, of my spiritual community. You hit the nail on the head - you will only truly reap the benefits of community when you contribute. When Vaughn asked us if we have ever been invloved with a community, I wanted to scream and shout that this class is the "best" (for lack of a better word) community I have ever been a part of! As much as I give, I get from the people in this class. It makes me a "better" believer, wife, mom and friend! I so wish that every person on our roll will step up, step out and truly get involved so they may too reap the benefits! How can they reap the benefits when they only attend occasionally and never do anything outside of class on Sunday morning?
I so agree! I, too, came from a church(the church that I grew up in) where I was truly a part of a spiritual community. When we moved, that is what Jason & I were looking for. We visited CrossPoint & Family Ties for a long time before we joined. We never felt truly connected until we put ourselves out there & became involved. It definitely takes more than just attending class & worship. Sometimes it was uncomfortable for us b/c we didn't know anybody, but we are so glad that we kept getting involved. Jason & I couldn't imagine our lives w/o Family Ties & Crosspoint now! Our class is an awesome spiritual community! Please take advantage of it! You will be blessed, I promise!
I too agree with Rhonda and Pam. Jamie, Coley and I are so glad that the Lord lead us to Crosspoint and then to Family Ties. We have been blessed with some many new friends because of the spiritual community this choice church brings.
