Prayers O' Plenty

Thanks to all you prayer warriors who have prayed for our student ministry over the past couple of weeks. Just a few things in review:
  • 12 salvations last Wednesday night (Aug. 15)
  • 5 recommits last Wednesday night (Aug. 15)
  • 275 total in attendance (middle and high school) last Wednesday night (Aug. 15)
  • 400 +/- in attendance Friday night at the Daniel Bashta concert (thanks Jonathan and Jenny B. for your sacrifice in making it happen!! You rock!!!!!)
  • 200+/- in attendance for D-Now weekend
  • 26 salvations on Saturday night (Aug. 18)
  • 1 wild 10:45 service that was nothing more than the passion that our students have ALL THE TIME, not to mention 1 hacked off pastor that got his house annihilated by toilet paper in the wee hours of Sunday (Chris Howell's son was a willing and proud participant).

Tonight we start our 6-week series called "EPIC: SOMETHING BIGGER THAN YOURSELF". We are anticipating a crowd of 350+ tonight alone. If you have time to read this, please close your eyes and pray for the lost souls who will enter our doors tonight. It's going to be huge!! It starts at 7pm if you want to check it out!! More updates as God continues to move in a mighty way.

UPDATE:

We had 332 people Wednesday night (August 22) and there have been 10-15 salvations that I know of at random times this week just because our students are sharing Christ with their friends before, during, or after school!!! We are expecting 450 +/- next week (August 29) as our students will see the most clear and creative presentation of the gospel that our student ministry has EVER DONE!! To Him be ALL the glory!! PRAY PRAY PRAY!!

I love watching the youth worship on Sunday Mornings! They're very infectious! They are so passionate about their worship and it's inspiring to see them be so bold for the Lord. In a mean, and crazy world like we have today, it really takes a lot to stand up bold, proud and loud like so many of them are doing! The youth, and the leaders all have my prayers tonight as "Epic" begins.

Vaughn you are so right about our youth being ON FIRE. Our 12 year old, Matthew, attended D-Now this past weekend, and to see him lifting his hands and priasing God in the worship service Sun morning really blessed me. Before that weekend with our awesome youth, Matthew would hardly speak to anyone at church, much less stand up and dance and praise in church!!!(he is very shy!) KUDOS to Jason for what he is putting into these kids. Needless to say the transition from "childrens ministry" to the youth was a success! Matthew can't wait for Wed and Sun now!

I went down to see the set up last night before things got kicked off. It looked amazing and I can really see young people stepping up in leadership roles and taking ownership over the ministry and its effectiveness. From experience with our young people in the past, teenagers can make Wednesday night more of a social hour than a worship experience. I commend Jason and all of the youth workers for bringing our youth program back to seeking the Holy Spirit in all aspects. That is one of the toughest but most influential crowds in our church. To God be the glory!!!

This is absolutely nothing that any man has done. This is a genuine demonstration of Gods power at work in a student ministry that allows Him to completely take control and show His power. Our students come expecting God sized things to happen. The reason that we are seeing numbers grow is because we want to see Hewitt, Clay-Chalkville, Pinson, Springville, and other high schools and middle schools meet Jesus in a real way. Suppose there are 6,000-8,000 students in those schools, then we're going to continue to post numbers to show how GOD is working. When we get to 5,000 or 6,000 students on Wednesday night, people may actually see that God is able. Many people that I say this to either laugh in my face or laugh soon after I leave them. Its sad that "believers" dont really believe the God is capable of soing something like this. What a travesty!!!

It is our responsibility to pray for the kids of our church...I'm inspired! This is amazing. We all need to keep in mind that our kids will be there one day, unfortunately quicker than we would like. It is great to watch what God is doing at Crosspoint & I’m so proud to be a part of it all.
