Just a Moment

Today James covered another lesson from the book It's Not About Me by Max Lucado. Here is a short summary and some highlights from the lesson:

Max began this session with a story about his two year old daughter saying the phrase, "Just a moment," in the midst of a game of catch with her him. He said it dawned on him that children don't really have a concept of time. We have all experienced this in our own lives when our children "make us late" for things because they want to watch just one more show or have just one more cup of juice. They can play for 30 minutes or 3 hours, and the time just stands still while they are in their world.

John 8:54-58 points out that Jesus told a group of Jews, "Before Abraham was born, I am." Many other scriptures were covered in the lesson exemplifying the brevity of our own lives and the magnitude of God, one who has no beginning and no end:
Psalms 93:2- "...from Everlasting"
Jer. 10:10 "the Everlasting King"
1 Timothy 6:16 "who alone has immortality"
Job 36:26 "the number of His years is unsearchable"

Now think of how our life is just a moment. Paul describes it in 2 Corinthians 4:17 "Our Light Affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory."

Fleeting days don't justify fleeing problems. Fleeting days strengthen us to endure problems. Will our problems pass or cease? We have no guarantees. But Heaven promises it is just a moment.

This too shall pass... in just a moment.
Life is short- stay in it and stay the course!
